Task 2: Simulated situational conversation.

A: Welcome, sir! May I help you?

B: Yes. I want to go to Hainan for my vacation.

A: No problem. Actually, we have some great packages. The most exciting season of Hainan is now. How about a relaxing vacation in Hainan?

B: Sounds good. Are there any tour groups I can go with?

A: Yes, there will be one week. Many people go to Sanya for their vacation. Sanya is at the southern tip of Hainan Island. It's a famous coast resort. It is famous for relaxing, for sun and land, for water sports, hiking and golf.

B: Sounds like a terrific place. So how long is the trip?

A: 4 days. The transportation by air will take 4 days.

B: And how many places will be visited, and what are they?

A: You can visit a Moslem village, a pearl farm and the “Ends of the Earth.”

B: Wow! Cool! What's the price for the trip?

A: Well, right now, there's a special rate for 3,200 RMB for this package, including everything such as airline tickets, tour guides, hotels and food.

B: Well. OK! I'll take it!

A: Thank you!

Ma Lin: Well, Hangzhou is the capital city of Zhejiang Province. It is a political, economic and cultural center of the province. Hangzhou is one of the seven ancient capitals of China. It is a national key scenic and tourist city.

John: What's Hangzhou famous for?

Ma Lin: Hangzhou is a famous historical and cultural city and it enjoys a long history of more than 2,000 years. It's famous for its scenic beauty and rich cultural relics.

John: Would you recommend some places for sightseeing?

Ma Lin: How about West Lake and Lingyin Temple?

John: Could you tell me something about West Lake?

Ma Lin: It's located in the west of Hangzhou and is well known for its beautiful scenery in the all four seasons.
