Unit Goals

After learning the unit, students are expected to be able

·to know some popular picaresque novels and famous writers,

·to know Daniel Defoe as a pioneer novelist of England and his adventure novel,

·to know Jonathan Swift and the artistic features of his writings,

·to enhance vocabulary development and other language skills necessary for literary studies, and

·to improve language proficiency and critical thinking through the content of this unit.
